The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has made policy-oriented work related to the use of ODR for B2C. In April 19-20, 2005 the Consumer Policy Committee of the OECD jointly organized with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) a Workshop on Consumer Dispute Resolution and Redress in the Global Marketplace with the purpose to enable a better understanding of existing mechanisms for addressing consumer disputes and to consider ways to improve the effectiveness of remedies in cross-border cases in OECD members countries. The workshop brought representatives form 23 countries, including senior government officials and experts form business, consumer groups and academia.

In December 2000, the OECD jointly organized a workshop with the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCPIL) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) entitled: “Building Trust in the Online Environment: Business-to-Consumer Dispute Resolution” in The Hague Netherlands, (11-12 December 2000).
