Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Department of Commerce (DOC) held a public workshop on alternative dispute resolution for online consumer transactions in June 6-7, 2000 in order to examine the use of alternative dispute resolution as one means of providing transparent, effective, quick, and inexpensive redress for consumers engaging in online transactions. European Union
The European Consumer Centres Network (ECC-network) is a government network of 15 European consumer centers whose main purpose is to serve as an interface between the European Commission and European consumers has a section on ADR containing legislation, papers, reports, recommendations and press releases and a database of notified out-of court bodies, as well as links to other important consumer networks such as the European Extra-Judicial Network for Cross-Border Dispute Resolution EEJ-Net.
