The inaugural meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will take place in Athens, Greece from 30 October-2 November 2006. The topics of the agenda for this meeting are currently being discussed among stakeholders and will be communicated after the consultation meetings of the IGF Advisory Group. ITU-WSIS Thematic Meeting on Cybersecurity (Geneva, Switzerland 28 June - 1 July 2005)

The WSIS Thematic Meeting on Cybersecurity will take place 28 June-1 July 2005 at ITU headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. This conference will examine the recommendations in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) first phase's Declaration of Principles and Plan of Action that relate to building confidence and security in the use of ICTs and the promotion of a global culture of cybersecurity. OECD Workshop on Consumer Dispute Resolution and Redress in the Global Marketplace (19-20 April 2005)

The OECD's Committee on Consumer Policy and the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will jointly organized this workshop that will examine approaches to consumer dispute resolution and redress in OECD member countries. Experts from governments, business, consumer groups, and academia will explore different mechanisms for consumers to resolve disputes and obtain monetary redress, and exchange views about the advantages and disadvantages of the different mechanisms in the cross border context. The UN Working Group on Internet Governance (WGIG) will meet in Geneva from 14 to 16 February 2005. The WGIG has scheduled open consultation with interested stakeholders for February 14, 15 & 16. The preliminary results of this meeting will be presented during the WSIS PrepCom-2 on February 17-25. See more at the UN WGIG web site

On December 15-16, the FTC will hold a workshop on P2P File Sharing Technology. The workshop is the latest in a series of efforts to assess the impact of new and significant technologies on consumers and businesses where many experts from private and public sector, academia and civil society will have the opportunity to share their thoughts on the subject matter. The Mexican Chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC-Mexico) will held its annual Internet Congress on November 4-5 2004. This year’s conference will analyze novel topics of Mexico’s ICT’s agenda such as electronic signatures, electronic invoice, copyright, access to information and data protection, spam, technical and legal aspects of information security and Internet and education. The UN ICT Task Force will have its seventh meeting in Berlin on November 19-20 2004. This meeting will consist of a series of workshops and events organized by the German Civil Society and a Global Forum that is open to qualified civil society experts. See more at UN ICT Task Force’s website.

The Institute of Legal Research of Mexico's National University (Instituto de Investigaciones Juridicas de la UNAM) will hold on 27-29 October, 2004 an International Congress entitled: Information, Technology and Law: New Challenges For Latin-America. The seminar will analyze the most controversial Internet Policy Issues in Mexico and other countries like consumer protection legislation, electronic signatures, online contracting, intellectual property & copyright, e-government and the use of technologies in the teaching of law. The OECD's 2nd Workshop on Spam will be hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communication in Korea and held in Busan, Korea on 8-9 September 2004. The objective of the workshop will be to build on the results of the First Brussels Workshop on Spam, held on 2-3 February 2004, and attempt to deepen this work and explore some of the issues and problems in greater detail.
